American burying beatles 现在快速减少，濒临灭绝的原因。

阅读：

1、农民们使用杀虫剂，虽然beetles不是他们消杀的目标，但地上的杀虫剂还是可以毒死它们;

2、人类的development，破坏了他们的habitat;

3、与scavenger mammals竞争，有same food source，scavenger mammals和burying beetle竞争食物，使得beetle食物越来越少。

听力：反驳。

1、pesticid不成立，是因为beatles的数量在这个杀虫剂发明之前就已经骤减了。另外，在美国其他地方，一些beatles，即使在有杀虫剂使用的地方，仍可以活20到30年，整20到30年;

2、human development。professor说的是也有一些跟beatles相似的物种，他们的habitat也被人类那个fragmented了，然后但是他们没有骤减，所以说明这个原因不成立;

3、competition with other animals，beatles是有一个特殊的features的，他们的嗅觉特别发达，可以让他们很快的找到食物，然后他们会spread some chemicals在那些食物上，去prevent other animals finding this food。
