A parent wants to help his or her child become better at a skill, such as playing a musical instrument or competing in a sport. Some people believe that the best way to do so is for the parent to require the child to practice every day for a set number of minutes or hours. Other people believe that it is best for the parent to encourage the child to practice only as much as the child wishes, with no requirement about the amount of time spent practicing.

Inevitably, the development of the children could literally be quite significant for an entire family, leading large quantities of parents to pour for explore the potential since they are still very young. From my perspective, the practice time could be arranged by parents and the reasons are as followed.

To begin with, what could be hardly ignored is that parents are those who seem to be much more professional for time arrangement. Obviously, parents are quite familiar with the personal character of their children, meaning that they could definitely set the practice schedule from a very professional angle concerning many aspects, such as health or the balance between study and technique learning. Thus, the time arranged for young children could be much more beneficial especially for those kids who largely make decisions on their temporary desires without any deep consideration. The story happening to Joe could perfectly prove the statement mentioned above. Joe had been quite keen on piano since he was five, resulting in the fact that he sometimes even neglected the time for daily rest or diet. Fortunately, his parents was quite familiar with his circumstance, who set very strictly rules for him to follow in order to guarantee his physical condition. Thanks to his parents’ professional arrangement, Joe kept a very healthy living schedule since he was young despite his full passion for becoming a real musician. Therefore, the decisions made by parents clearly could ensure children can follow more professional suggestions.

Besides, it is universally acknowledged that parents’ arrangements could be authoritative enough for children to follow. Apparently, the primary reason is that children tend to be distracted by all the amusing items around instead of totally focusing on the practice, which make not result in better achievements. Consequently, parents, as the single authority of the family, could force children to obey the rules to persevere in practicing especially when they feel quite tedious or simply lazy. However, kids would barely stick to some so-called rules since they are too young to be quite self-disciplined, and thus their endeavors would be quite restricted with very fewer achievements. Taking Joe as an example, although absolutely attracted by piano, Joe sometimes would fall into the negative emotions and get addicted to amusing video games for entertainment, after which he even hardly accomplished the assignments from teachers. Fortunately, his parents soon realized this phenomenon and started to arrange strict practice time for him, allowing him to keep the practice and become one of the top players among his peers.

To put everything in a nutshell, setting practice time for young children could allow parents to provide more professional schedules as strict rules.
